Tying The Knot

Jacob saw the plan of ascension, one kingdom to another, as a ladder. Moses experienced it in the form of a mountain. Some ancients thought of the plan of salvation as three worlds or kingdoms stacked one above the other. Spanning these three worlds was a rope descending from the highest kingdom bringing connection to the lower worlds. Each of the three worlds is tied to the rope by a knot, and the knot is fastened with a nail (Vav). The temple is a knot symbolizing the connecting place between the worlds. Each level of temple worship has an altar which represents the Vav or nail in that world.

“The temple is thus thought of as the ‘bond of heaven and earth,’ as the ‘navel of the earth,’ and as the ‘pillar of the earth,’ that is, the central axis around which the world revolves. The temple represents ‘the Pole of the heavens, around which all heavenly motions revolve, the knot that ties earth and heaven together, the seat of universal dominion.’” [1 or LINK]

The rope is the center line of the temple, or the path to Lehi’s tree, or the straight and narrow path.  The knot alludes to covenants. When people are married, the have tied the knot, they have made promises that bind them. In the case of the temple the knot or covenant is made binding by the nail or Vav, which represents the atonement.

“We stand in the middle position. This earth is the Old English middan-(g)eard, the middle-earth. The markas & scheckecirc; u er .s ti of the Babylonians means the knot that ties heaven to earth, the knot that ties all horizontal distances together (cf. fig. 37H, p. 151), and all up and down, the meeting point of the heavens and the earth. It is the middle point at which the worlds above and the worlds below join. This scale model of the universe is the temple. Of course, the word for temple in Latin, templum, means the same thing as template” [2 or LINK]

Sometimes this connection between the higher and lower worlds is a rope, trunk of a tree, vine, ladder, river, or even a spinal column. It is always the same template, showing the way back to God.

Thank you. Something to think about. Ok, so these are just my random thoughts as I read. Why does one world have to be 'above' another, instead of side by side? D&C seems to talk about this I think in relation to presthood government and accountabiliy. Like this is what makes the world go around, and makes things happen.. You can ignore me if this question seems out of context.

You are crossing over the River of Filth and being draged down stream in a river of False doctrine.
To call God's doctrine and Plan of salvation;" plan of ascension" and quoting from "EXTRA scriptures"
or "Elevated Scriptures"
( Sepher Yetzirah
The Zohar
Masonry/Qaballah
is absent and mis-focused away From Messiah and falls into the custom of the Jews and "Much Learning"
and never Acknowledging The Fountian of Living waters for those who partake. As opposed to those who are climbing their man made towers to Heaven.
Only thru the Holy Life, out of Love toward God and the Indwelling of the Holy Ghost are we Made Holy and Made Manifest are the Mysteries of God.
The Holy Ghost and in Prayer do we anchor our self to The Holy one. When Jesus was on earth Man communed with God Face to Face. with Jesus in Heaven,We should seek the Holy Ghost. and Repent!!!!!!!
And they did pray for that which they most desired; and they desired that the Holy Ghost should be given unto them.

Dark, and evil did we Become?

And now I speak unto all the ends of the earth—that if the day cometh that the power and gifts of God shall be done away among you, it shall be because of unbelief.
And wo be unto the children of men if this be the case; for there shall be none that doeth good among you, no not one.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOLY GHOST???
And again, I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not the gifts of God, for they are many; and they come from the same God. And there are different ways that these gifts are administered; but it is the same God who worketh all in all; and they are given by the manifestations of the Spirit of God unto men, to profit them.

The voice of one crying in the wilderness "Repent" there are many paths, gnosticism/ascension/mysticism is Not The "Gospel" G.A.M. is tower building.
Indwelling of the Holy Ghost, and worshiping the Father thru Messiah is true Enlightenment,
The Holy Ghost is spoken of less and less, a thing of the Past, and were are turning away from the Gifts of spirit.
The Holy Ghost is what Makes and gives Life to the Church,

So what is my Point
Holy Ghost Indwelling v/s
Gnostic/Mysticism/Ascension

That same battle is spoken of By
Paul the Apostle In
Ephasians
Galations
Romans
and else where as He (Paul) was contending with the "wise" Greeks
and the Stiffnecked and Hard Hearted Jews of his Time.
Note Saul/Paul was a Jew and Jesus was King of the Jews and wiser than Solomon is He.

Read the Book of Mormon
The last chapter in the BOM lays it out very good, Moroni was Talking to the "Church" people of this Day.
A good re-focus would be to Read Moroni Again and Again and, and , and, Again.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
6 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.
7 And ye may aknow that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.
8 And again, I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not the gifts of God, for they are many; and they come from the same God. And there are different ways that these gifts are administered; but it is the same God who worketh all in all; and they are given by the manifestations of the cSpirit of God unto men, to profit them.

Annon:

You set up a physiological structure that prevents you from learning, it is a protective divice for you. You don’t believe in the Book of Mormon, or the restored church, yet you argue from a point of view that might leed the vulnerable to believe you are a true believing LDS member. Then you contrast yourself to what I have to say, trying to portray yourself as an orthodox Mormon, and that I am some kind of apostate, which is not true.

Jesus spoke of those who take such a position, he called them wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Why don’t you join us in a real discussion with your real views? Let’s take about real things where we can learn. And perhaps you won’t have on your hands the spiritual blood of some soft soul that would have otherwise been churned up in your comments.

Are you a Goat or a Sheep?

Are you in the Flock or Creating a New Fold?

I Belong to The "Church" of Truth, Do you Let "Tradition And Culture" define Your "Truth"?

Do you Define What is Truth for you?

Do you Stand alone for the Truth or are you part of the Crowded Truth?

Some questions are not Black and White, yes or no, Up or Down, Ascending or Decending, this side or that side, but are in "degrees" and you must love that.

So I Say and Quote

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

"I BELIEVE"

"And perhaps you won’t have on your hands the spiritual blood of some soft soul that would have otherwise been churned up in your comments."

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Holy Life,Holy Family, Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost is The least embraced, understood or included in our Participation in Godliness or the Godhood.
The Holy Ghost is way beyond "good" or "self-rightousness"
I seek on going Holy Ghost Baptism, beyond a salute and Hands.

That is My Quest!!!!

First of all, "Anonymous" is easily ignored. Not to say I won't read his responses, but the fact of the matter is that he seems to want to hide and use rhetoric. If we seek to know God and do His will through mindfulness and service to others, great mysteries are unfolded unto us. I, for one, am very interested in the topics of this blog, but I know salvation is not found here because salvation and eternal life are only found by walking the path ourselves, through experiential knowledge. God reveals His will to those who love him and exercise will power to do His will. Everything else is added upon us line upon line, precept upon precept. Many of the ideas and doctrines on this blog I personally wouldn't share with the wider public but, at the same time, I think David is doing something valuable and as long as he stays to true to his covenants and strives to love and serve others, he is indeed on the true path towards eternal life.

By the way, anyone who screams, "You're wrong! You're on the wrong path!" is likely not on the path themselves and that's what I hear anonymous saying.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the cway of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

Why do some resist the Notion that Ascension Theology is a Departure of "Traditional" Christian Theology.

And yes it is Closer to Gnostic/Mysticism than that of The Early Church Fathers.

I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”

By the way, anyone who screams, "You're wrong! You're on the wrong path!" is likely not on the path themselves and that's what I hear anonymous saying.

Over at Temple Study, Bryce just posted on related topic; "Hand Fasting." He describes a practice of "handfasting" where a couple would have their hands tied together as a sign of their covenant.
